The selection of communities for participation in the project was based on stringent criteria: successful experience in obtaining grants, transparency in the use of funds, activity in the projects’ implementation and close cooperation with businesses in the region. These factors helped us with the selection of the most promising communities capable of demonstrating high performance and efficiency in restoring their territories.
The community of Pervomaiskyi, Kharkiv region, was among the most active participants in the project “Joint Response for Ukrainian Communities Recovery” that participated in this important initiative together with seven other communities. The project aims to increase the level of socio-economic development and strengthen local infrastructure by supporting youth entrepreneurial initiatives and cooperation between business and government.
Participants developed project proposals based on certain priority ideas within the project framework. They gained knowledge and skills in preparing project documentation, exchanged practices and participated in active discussions. Much attention was paid to hands-on work, as well as presentations of experts who discussed cooperation issues between businesses and local authorities, the value of investment in youth and support for small businesses.
“If we support a young man who wants to open his retail outlet today, then perhaps this project will grow into a global business that will become a significant reinforcement for the community tomorrow,” said Oleksandr Ivanovych Yasinsky, the co-founder and commercial director of TEPPA, who represented the community of Pervomaiskyi.
Particular attention was paid to the development of young people, as they represent the driving force of changes. Supporting young entrepreneurs, providing them with opportunities for training and development, creating jobs are all key elements of the project strategy.
As the result of each community’s participation, ready-made drafts of project proposals were created to be submitted for financing. This opens up new opportunities for infrastructure development, youth training and new jobs creation.
The project “Joint Response for Ukrainian Communities Recovery” is a shining example of how synergy between local authorities, businesses and active communities can lead to significant changes and development of regions.
